TERRAKIDS! Amazing work! In March, the TerraKids team went to a village school in Xanasomboun District, in southern Laos. TerraKids had already presented 18 primary schools with TerraClear filters in each classroom and this day was the 19th school! In addition to providing filters, the TerraKids Team presented a half day program to the school, teaching the children, teachers, administrators, community leadership, and sometimes even District government representatives at each school about child rights, good touch/bad touch, dangers of child trafficking and drug use, awareness of child abuse……how and when to wash hands and the benefits of clean water…..so many WONDERFUL lessons! The presentations are fun and engaging, using song, dance, puppets, skits. In this last school in Xanasomboun, over 100 children were in attendance. They were fully engaged and participating, laughing and learning together.
Since this was the 19th and final school that TerraKids would present to in this area, the District Governor and other education officials attended to thank TerraClear for their contribution to these local schools. As the representative of TerraClear, I accepted, on behalf of our company, a certificate of appreciation from the district. I explained that, as a company, our business is to sell filters in Laos, but our heart is to help the Lao people. Being able to present such important information to children and school leaders and officials really expresses the core of TerraClear – to provide clean water to the most needy and vulnerable and to make a positive impact.
