Is it ever too late to celebrate Milestones? Maybe not! So here is a summary of some of our 2022 milestones for our two social programs: TerraCare and TerraKids.
TerraCare
In 2022, TerraCare completed placement of 4790 subsidized filters into the homes of needy families. In addition, each family received 5 or 6 trainings in health, sanitation, and clean water. Data from the Baseline and Endline survey that each family completed identifies a dramatic decrease of diarrhea and increase in family health. Over 80% of families can name 2 or 3 times it is important to wash their hands (before eating, before cooking food, and after using the toilet).
TerraKids
Our TerraKids program reached over 3700 primary students in their school classrooms with clean, safe drinking water. Previously, these children had no choice but to drink from unsafe water sources. Along with the filters in their own classrooms, these children and their teachers, administrators, education officials, some parents and community leaders learned about child rights, about the dangers of drug abuse and child trafficking. They participated in songs and skits teaching handwashing and the importance of clean drinking water.
TerraKids gave 2 Teacher Trainings in 2022 that addressed about 120 teachers and education officials, also teaching them about Child Rights as well as Child Development, youth challenges, drug abuse prevention and strategies to keep kids in schools.
