Soun lives in Khamteu Village in southern Laos. At 60 years old, his life is unconventional for a Lao man: he never married and has no family to care for him in his later years. Despite his hard work, Soun struggles to afford more than the basic necessities of life.
Two years ago, Soun encountered a TerraClear filter for the first time and was astonished. The idea of pouring river water directly into the filter and receiving clean, safe drinking water seemed like a miracle to him. Gone were the days of searching for firewood, boiling water, and waiting for it to cool. He resolved to save up for a filter, but after two years, he still hadn’t managed to gather the $45 needed (around 1,000,000 Lao Kip).
Soun noticed that his neighbors, who had purchased the filter, were enjoying better health and no longer had to go through the arduous process of water purification. Their experience motivated him even more.
Then, one day, a TerraClear representative visited Soun with incredible news: he had been selected to receive a subsidized filter. Instead of the full $45, Soun only needed to pay $5 (about 110,000 Lao Kip), with the rest of the cost covered by the company. The amount he had saved was enough to cover his portion!
Now, Soun proudly displays his TerraClear filter in his home. It’s his most cherished possession, providing him with clean, safe drinking water every day. He’s delighted to share this vital resource with his neighbors and spread the word about how the TerraClear filter simplifies daily life. As Soun puts it, “For two years, I dreamed of having this filter. Now, my dream has come true. Thank you for giving me the gift of clean water in my home!”
