Fourteen-year-old Pou Li dreams of becoming a truck driver, delivering fruits and vegetables to markets and exploring the beautiful landscapes of his homeland, Laos. For now, he lives in a small, one-room house in Huai Hai Village in Toulan, southern Laos, with his extended family of eight.
Like all the families in his village, Pou Li’s family collects water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning from a nearby stream. Unfortunately, this water is unsafe, leading to frequent bouts of diarrhea and severe cramping. Pou Li misses at least seven days of school each month due to illness, falling behind his peers and often feeling tired and weak.
But things have changed for Pou Li and his family. The TerraClear team informed them they qualified for a subsidized drinking water filter—providing clean, safe water every day, right in their home! This simple yet life-changing solution means Pou Li can look forward to a healthier, brighter future.
Now, Pou Li is excited about being well and strong. With clean water, he can attend school regularly, regain his energy, and pursue his dreams. Thanks to this new beginning, the possibility of becoming a truck driver and seeing his country no longer feels out of reach.
