On March 19, in response to the increasing risk of the spread of Covid-19, the Lao government announced that all primary and secondary schools would be shut until the 21st of April.
In cooperation with this decree, TerraClear paused all school programs until such time as the virus was no longer a risk to students and educators. We look forward expectantly to the time when the risk is over and schools are able to open again.
This semester, TerraKids was focusing on Phatumphone district, Champasak Province in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Sports and local officials from the respective villages. So far TerraKids has held five school programs in the district and plans to hold five more once schools reopen.
Over 400 students have participated in the programs and 19 filters have been donated, one for each classroom in the five schools.
TerraClear is very grateful to the hard work of the senior educators, teachers, Women’s Union members and village leaders who have assisted the TerraKids staff in order to make these programs possible.
